If there’s one thing K&K loves more than badger-related comedy and the recent announcement that Platinum Blonde is reuniting, it’s press releases. We get tons of them, and most of the time they’re filled with pointless gestures, which make us feel like more sensible human beings in comparison.

Take for instance the news release Mayor Gregor Robertson and his office issued regarding the discovery of body parts sent to two Vancouver elementary schools. In case you’re wondering, Robertson found the events “deeply disturbing and repugnant.” Good to know. For a second we were worried our city’s top elected official found the incident funny, “kinda cool” or further proof that the city’s Green Action Plan was indeed working.

And what to make of the B.C. Teachers’ Federation announcement that it was adding its voice “to those speaking out in support of the Musqueam people’s efforts to protect their sacred site at Marpole Midden from commercial and condominium development, and to transform the land into a public heritage park.” Forgive our ignorance, but we were always under the impression the BCTF’s purpose was to add its voice to teachers, especially those embroiled in an ongoing labour dispute. But hey, who are we to judge. After all, we’re just a bunch of Courier newspaper employees who would like to go on record to announce our support for Platinum Blonde’s reunion and possible tour, which better not include the “repugnant” mailing of body parts.
